We enjoyed the Super Bowl of red carpets yesterday. Though things were a bit more tame than in previous years, there were some hits… and some misses.

I went on Great Day Houston with a few other fashion experts (my first expert panel!) to talk about our picks for best and worst dressed. Click through to see my picks and the full segment online!

We didn’t have time to cover all of the picks. Here are my top choices for Best and Worst Dressed.

Best Dressed

J Lo sported signature cleavage but a stunning gown with a perfect ponytail to keep the look fresh. I’m normally not a fan of nude, especially when it’s so close to her skin tone but it kept the over-the-top dress from wearing her!

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo were impeccable! Perfect tailoring, color, fit and style. Loved their looks!

Reese Witherspoon in this classic styling from Tom Ford was a yes for me. the waist was perfect on her. A gorgeous chandelier earring or statement cocktail ring, perhaps in emerald would have really completed the outfit but the dress is great and flattering on her.

Rosamund Pike was stunning in this bold red number. Who doesn’t love waist whittling details? Her hair was a great compliment to the look and I appreciate that she went all red rather than trying to pull in another color.

Gwenyth Paltrow – she was on a lot of worst dressed lists but I disagree. I love the dress, the color was flawless for her and her slightly darker, brighter pink earrings were a fabulous compliment.

Eddy Redmayne. The navy and blue tux trend is still going strong and he rocks it. Extra points for having one of the best truly giddy responses to winning an Oscar.

David Oyelowo branched out from the navy and black combos and looks fantastic in this burgundy suit.

Neil Patrick Harris rocked several best dressed looks last night. The grey tux he wore to enter, the burgundy and black tux after his skivvies run, and the beautiful midnight blue double-breasted suit he wore all showed perfect tailoring and great style.

Worst Dressed

Not a comprehensive list but a few of the styles that were missing for me.

Nicole Kidman is gorgeous and can do (and has done!) much better. The color didn’t suit and I found the individual details of the dress distracting rather than flattering.

Naomi Watts. I’ll be the first to tell you I won’t choose something so far from traditional but I didn’t like the styling of the dress either. Her lip, hair, and clutch were all great on their own but did not compliment the overall look.

Marion Cotillard. Other than her beautiful face, this was a miss for me. Her hair style, back dress detail, and dress fabric are all distractions rather than enhancers of her figure.
