This is it!  We have arrived at our last makeover winner reveal!  If you haven’t had a chance to see our previous two winners, rush right over and check out Jonathan and Gwen rocking their new looks.

Without further adieu, meet our final makeover winner, Carrie.  Carrie is a journalist and new mom who has to quickly transition from sitting at her desk to covering a story in the field to loving on her precious seven-month-old, to date night with her husband.  She is a beautiful, tall (5’10”!) women who needless to say has a lot going on and has not had a chance to think about herself for a second recently!  Carrie wanted an elegant, approachable, low maintenance look and rules to go by as a result of our time together.  Here’s what happened.

First the closet.  Carrie was already utilizing much of the space, including the side wall, so we focused our attention on the clothes.  With the baby weight already gone (Go girl!) we approached the closet with a must-fit-now mentality.  Smaller spaces bring a great advantage – they force you to be selective about what stays and help give you the freedom to let go of some things vs with a big closet where everything is allowed to stay, often for too long!!

I hear people say they are scared to hire an image consultant for fear everything will be pitched.  I can safely speak for image consultants everywhere when I say it is not our goal to send clients out into the world naked!

We did edit quite a few things in Carrie’s closet but she had some beautiful pieces that stayed. For example, both of these dresses were beautiful prints that flattered her and absolutely made the cut!

You already know I’m going to say we transitioned over to matching hangers after reading Jonathan and Gwen’s recaps!  But a quick comment about small spaces.  If you are working in a smaller closet, skip the rounded plastic, notched, and wooden hangers.  They take up too much of your valuable space!  Opt for non-slip slim hangers like these Huggable versions from The Container Store.

SECRET TIP: Available for a fraction of the cost at Costco (in store only).

After the closet, we joined forces again with the Dynamic Duo of Travis Player and Roi Alan to creating a flattering look to match her great personality and season of life.  Working with Carrie’s natural waves, Travis gave her a trim to show off her elegant neckline resulting in a livelier, lower maintenance look.  Less dry time = more likely to look put together even when rushing out the door to cover the next story! In addition to a cut, Roi added a subtle darker blonde to warm up her features and give some contrast between her skin, hair, and lovely blue eyes!

Rule to follow: Dress to match your current season of life.  If you opt for a high maintenance look that you don’t have time to maintain, you will be frequently frustrated!

Then the styling session!  I wanted to bring a warm, colorful look to this new mom and we found the perfect pieces at Leslie & Co!  Carrie was often attracted to eye-catching, artistic prints so paying attention fit and color flattery, we opted for a printed tunic that flattered her skin tone and will hide unwelcome newborn stains!

Rule to follow: Beautiful prints need to look good on, not just on the hanger!

An oyster-colored skinny pant counters the fullness of the tunic top and of course we found updated flats for easy running from one thing to the next!

Rule to follow: You can wear nearly any color. It’s about finding a flattering hue and skillful placement within your outfit!
