This past week I attended a five-day Association of Image Consultants International conference. What a well-dressed whirlwind!!

I met some truly amazing people from all over the world (Canada, Mexico, England, Netherlands, and a HUGE contingent from Nigeria – who knew?) that I can’t wait to see again and am happy to recommend.  There are truly impressive women (and men!) in the business and I am walking away from the event with some wonderful new friends and contacts.

I attended back-to-back sessions for four days which was intense but outstanding.  Taught by well-known and established greats in the industry, there wasn’t a single session I didn’t love.  I won’t recap the full 24hrs of training for here (who has that kind of time?!) but know you will hear about it in bits and pieces in coming posts and the #nwdt daily tips on Facebook and Twitter!

A few thoughts that resonated with me that might resonate with you regardless of your industry:

  • What holds you back from playing your biggest game?  Are you committed or merely interested?
  • Is your personal (and business brand) clear?  Specifically: Consistent, Credible, and Confident?
  • We operate best in relationships.  Whether that is at home, in business, in sales.  Pursue people with an honest and sincere interest and you will not be disappointed.  In the world of social media, while it is beneficial and often critical, the value of personal interaction still reigns supreme.

Thanks to a long ago gift of an Apple keyboard (thank you!!), I took ridiculous notes and am processing all the wonderful content around sales, marketing, speaking, branding, patterns, color theory, fashion show creation, style personalities for women and men, and figure flattery.

Looking forward to introducing you to some of my new friends and colleagues in future posts!
