…Determines the direction of your feet. It happens in substantial areas, perhaps in relationships or careers, and it happens in smaller areas, the way we drive or ride a bike. It even shows up in the way we dress.

In the routine of getting dressed every morning, it’s easy to fall into a habit of focusing on the negative rather than the positive.  Maybe it is that your hips are too big, legs too short, calves too skinny, shoulders too broad, or something is too something.  The result?  The parts we don’t like get all the attention.  It drains us of our energy, motivation, and excitement.  Then we are left without energy to do something great with our good!

What if it was flipped?  What if you got dressed in the morning and focused on your best assets?  Your arms, your legs, your flat stomach, your womanly curves, your eyes, or your smile.  Then your energy is spent enhancing your best assets instead of trying to hide your problem areas.  Certainly being aware of your problem areas is important but we miss the point when they become our main focal point.

When I work with a client, before we start in his or her closet we talk about what physical assets they want to minimize and what physical assets they want to enhance.  Often, when we start in with the closet edit, we discover that the majority of their clothes accentuate rather than hide their problem areas.

We go in the direction of our focus.  If you focus on the negative, the result will focus on the negative as well.

Focus on the positive.  Dress your best assets.
