Dreary weather, looming tax day, exhaustion, and/or an overwhelming task list. Whatever the cause, some days are just blah. What’s a girl (or guy) to do? Tips on how to style yourself happy after the jump!
Style Yourself Happy
Give It Some Effort
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the first step, which is to make sure and put some effort into your look on particularly drab days. Avoid the temptation to dress frumpy when you feel lousy because when you look good you feel good! If you are going to be doing something you don’t want to do, might as well look good doing it.
Wear a Favorite
Have something in your closet that makes you smile? Maybe it’s a necklace that reminds you of someone special, a pair of heels that make you feel on top of the world, a dress that fits like it was made for you, or a scarf with a beautiful print. Whatever it is in your closet that helps make you feel ten feet tall and bulletproof, make it your go to for particularly blah days!
Work in Yellow
Known to contribute to feelings of happiness and cheerfulness, yellow is a great color for boosting your mood! The more the merrier, literally. But if yellow on its own feels like too much, pair with a universally flattering navy to give it a bit more weight. This particular outfit is also great if yellow is not your best color since navy is framing the face.

What color should you avoid? BLACK! Yes, it is slenderizing and sophisticatedly simple but it lends to a more somber, aggressive attitude. And perhaps more importantly, black can really accentuate those dark circles under your eyes if exhaustion is your blah day contributor!
Style Your Space
Don’t own any yellow or just not feeling it in your wardrobe? Or maybe you love it and want more? Consider adding a dose of happiness to your desk, table, or living space.
I rounded up some lovely yellow pieces for style and home for your cheerful pleasure. ;-) I would love to hear what your style favorites are and what you do to counter blah days. Tell me on Instagram and Facebook!
